Shifts arrange amongst workers, provided all required shifts are covered. |

Self rostering |
Nominating preferred shifts, ensuring that cover is provided for at all times. |

Time off in lieu (TOIL) |
Time taken off to compensate for extra hours worked. |

Term-time working |
Permanent contract taking paid/unpaid leave during school holidays. |

Annual hours |
Proportion of contracted hours are kept in reserve so for periods where short notice working is required. |

V-time working |
Reduction of hours for a fixed period with a guarantee of full-time work when this period ends. |

Zero-hours contracts |
Working only the hours required by the employer. |

Remote/Home working |
All or part of the contracted hours working from home or somewhere else away from employer's premises. |
